We’re Proud of Our Proud Initiative!

Our Proud initiative has become a key part of life here at Ridgeway. At the time of writing, members of staff have written something like 3,500 individual nominations since we started the initiative back in 2023, recognising students for their hard work, progress, behaviour, attitude and contribution to school life.

We use the word ‘proud’ in our conversations with students. We want students to feel proud in three specific ways:

• Proud of themselves as individuals and the way they conduct themselves
• Proud of their efforts and accomplishments in and out of school
• Proud of being part of Ridgeway High School, a community of learners working together towards common goals

Each week staff nominate a student they are proud of because of something the student has done or achieved. We display the citations around school, with nominated students also receiving a certificate.

Proud features in weekly assemblies, and we also publish the list of nominees and citations on our website and across our social media channels every Friday.
