The Memory Mastery approach is the best way to prepare for exams, breaking work down into short notes that your child can then memorise.
We want students to be testing themselves at home using flashcards, particularly in the run-up to subject assessments and the winter and summer exams.
Memory Mastery strengthens learning because it helps students remember more of what they cover in lessons.
And it goes without saying that subject teachers are always on hand to offer advice and guidance.
Don’t leave it to the last minute. Your child should be doing some revision every day – including during the May half-term break ahead of Summer Exam Week – building up to exam week itself. The very act of making a start on revision will help to relieve some of the anxiety your child may be feeling.
Make revision active not passive. It is easy to sit in front of the television and trick yourself into thinking that by turning over the pages of a book you are revising. In fact, it is probably the least effective way to revise. The Memory Mastery approach, using the Leitner System, is a great way to make revision active.
