A group of year 8 and year 9 students joined more than 300 girls from across Merseyside at an event at Anfield, home of Liverpool FC, in late-March as part of the She Inspires initiative.
The students took part in team-building activities, a STEM workshop and a workshop on healthy relationships that was delivered by Merseyside Police. They were also able to enjoy a fantastic stadium walkaround with the LFC Foundation.
The She Inspires initiative was launched by the chief constable of Merseyside Police and the police and crime commissioner for Merseyside and is all about promoting aspiration and building confidence among teenage girls, helping them realise their potential on and off the pitch.
The initiative is now in its third year and continues to evolve year by year. Ridgeway students have visited Goodison Park, the current home of Everton FC, as well as Anfield.
Speaking earlier this year, Serena Kennedy, who is chief constable of Merseyside Police, said: “The programme’s success is a testament to the dedication of the partners involved, as well as the enthusiasm of the girls who are seizing the opportunity and growing in confidence.”
