A Wonderful Time at Wonder Boy

Our year 11 performing arts students had a fantastic time at the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre in September, watching a performance of the acclaimed production Wonder Boy.

Wonder Boy has been described as “a heart-warming and inspiring story about the power of communication”. It was the winner of the 2023 Writers’ Guild Award for Best Play.

The students clearly agreed. Freya described it as “brilliant” and Grace said she found it “really moving”.

Mr Sterry said: “This was an outstanding learning and enrichment experience for the students, demonstrating theatre’s ability to tell inspiring stories and deliver powerful messages, even with the most basic of sets.”

Mrs Huthwaite said: “Seeing Wonder Boy was a brilliant opportunity for the year 11 students studying the WJEC Performing Arts course. This live theatre experience will have enhanced their understanding of performance techniques, character development and stagecraft – all key components of their course.

“By observing professional actors in a dynamic production, the students will have gained an insight into how theoretical concepts are applied in practice, which they can use to inform their own work.”
