University of Liverpool Maths Challenge 2024

Well done to the eight year 10 students who took part in this year’s University of Liverpool Maths Challenge. The competition – involving students from across Merseyside – is all about solving mathematical problems.

Ridgeway entered two teams of four. Teams were required to complete tasks that tested their mathematical knowledge and their problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Mr Pennington said: “It was really competitive, with students from all over Merseyside taking part, and I am delighted with how well the Ridgeway students performed through the day.

“Both teams did themselves and the school proud. One of our teams won the cross-number task by earning full marks with 90 seconds to spare.”

Mr Sterry said: “This was an outstanding enrichment opportunity, enabling eight of our most able mathematicians to pit their wits against equally able young people from across the region, all taking place in an inspirational university setting.

“Well done to them all and many thanks to the maths department for arranging Ridgeway’s participation.”
