Ridgeway’s Creative Writers

Thirteen students who entered a creative-writing competition a few weeks ago are to have their stories published by the Young Writers organisation in a book. This latest challenge was to write a story based on the title ‘Trapped’ — in just 100 words. It is the second time that Ridgeway students’ writing has been selected for publication.

Trapped — by Millie Langan, Year 7

It was a dull Sunday evening and Ethan and Jack had an idea to go and visit the old abandoned mansion up on Caxton Hill. As they approached the front step, the stench of rotten wood was already overwhelming and the windows thick with dust. Jack wedged the door open, letting the last bit of daylight guide them in. Heading towards the stairs they saw something move out of the corner of their eye, and that’s as far as they got. Suddenly, loud footsteps rushed past, slamming the door behind them. Darkness… Eerie silence… That’s when they realised, they were trapped…
