Remembering Demi Lea Dawson

Demi and Ann Hodgson at the 2015 Prom

We were devastated to hear the news of the death of Demi Lea Dawson, who was a student here between 2010 and 2015. She was Deputy Head Girl in her final year.

Ann Hodgson was Demi’s year manager:

“Demi started at Ridgeway High School in September 2010 and I had the pleasure and privilege of being her year manager for five years.

She was a beautiful young lady inside and out, kind and caring and with a positive outlook on all that she did. She was always there to support those around her in their time of need. She was part of a fantastic circle of friends, whose bond remains as close now as it was when they were at school.

As well as being a talented dancer, Demi was also a high achiever academically, obtaining fantastic GCSE results. She had a plan to go into law but her real passion was for make-up and fashion. It was the little details that mattered for Demi — whether it was her appearance, her school work or just the way she conducted herself. Always happy, smiling and cheerful, she was a pleasure to be around.

As a mark of respect and to honour the contribution Demi made to the school, we will be standing at the school gates on Wednesday 17 June to say our final goodbye as the funeral procession passes by. I would be delighted if those who knew Demi joined us, keeping in mind that we need to stand two metres apart from each other, of course. We will be there from 11.30am.”
