Many congratulations to George in year 9, who has been elected to represent the young people of Wirral as one of two Wirral Members of the Youth Parliament. George will be representing around 54,000 young people on the national stage.
George applied to be a Wirral Member of the Youth Parliament and was selected as one of the finalists. There were more than thirty applications, and so it was a huge achievement by George just to have got through to the voting stage.
George said this in his manifesto: “I offer the reliability of a Scout, the experience of a student leader, and the passion of a local volunteer. I do not just want to be a voice in a room; I want to be the bridge to the people in power.”
Mr Sterry said: “I am sure that George will be a fantastic representative for Wirral on the national stage. He really is an outstanding Ridgeway role model.
“George seizes every opportunity there is to participate in the life of the school and the community – everything from putting himself forward for the student senior leadership team to representing Ridgeway at the Climate Comeback Environment Day at Wallasey Town Hall last year.
“Indeed, George said at the time that being involved in the Environment Day ‘has inspired me to grow my leadership role in and out of school’.”
