Well done to year 9 students Mia, Olly, Thisandi, Erica and Isabella who were at Leverhulme Hotel in Port Sunlight in March for their Unilever Bright Future Inspire Programme Presentation and Awards Day.
The students made up one of thirty-three teams from schools from across the north west, taking part in a challenge to design a sustainable product.
This year’s Bright Future Inspire challenge began last November, when the students attended an introductory day centred around five workshops that explored things relating to the research and development process, such as product formulation, packaging and digital issues. The students were then given the task of designing a planet-friendly product.
At this Presentation and Awards Day the students introduced their design for a product called Flower Mane – “the future of eco-luxury haircare”, in the words of their pitch – a hair mask designed using sustainable ingredients and reusable aluminium packaging.
Mr Hudson said: “Today the students had to present their product to four sets of judges and then answer lots of questions relating to things like the benefits of the product, manufacturing and sustainability.
“Flower Mane was a great product. All five students did an amazing job, presenting fantastically and showing the work they had put into the research aspect of the project by fielding the judges’ questions with a high level of knowledge and understanding. I am so proud of them for how hard they have worked over the last four months.”
The students said: “We had an amazing day! It was an insightful event that helps expand your creativity and we learned a huge amount. We didn’t win but we had so much fun!”
