Ridgeway is celebrating another impressive set of GCSE and vocational results this summer, with students achieving strong outcomes in a wide range of academic and vocational subjects. This follows a record-breaking set of results in 2025.
Staff and students are particularly proud of the breadth of high grades achieved this year, with a large number of top grade 9s, 8s and 7s recorded in English language, English literature, mathematics and the sciences in particular.
Students who have spent their whole secondary experience at Ridgeway have done exceptionally well, as have students who have moved in from other schools over the last five years.
The school’s vocational and technical pathways have also had a standout year, with many students securing the top Distinction and Merit grades in courses including construction, sport science and performing arts – a testament to the school’s commitment to offering students a genuinely broad and ambitious curriculum.
Headteacher Gavin Sterry said:
“Among the many excellent individual performances, our head student Kisandu Kumarasinghe achieved an exceptionally high number of 9s – the top grade available – as did Amelia Lush and a number of other students.
“We are all very proud of the hard work and effort that our year 11s put in during this examination season and the outstanding resilience they demonstrated.”
The results cap off a year of focus and dedication from the year 11 cohort that also saw geography teacher Phil Dudley win a Pearson Outstanding New Teacher of the Year national award, which is particularly apt given the record results in geography this year.
Students will now be moving on to a variety of courses at the City of Liverpool College, Wirral Met, Birkenhead Sixth Form College, Liverpool Media Academy and Rare Studio Liverpool, as well as to employment combined with study across the Wirral.
The school extends its congratulations to every student who received results this summer and thanks parents, carers and staff for the support and encouragement they have offered over the last five years.
