Five Stars for Food Hygiene

Our catering team have once again received a 5-star hygiene rating following a recent environmental health inspection.

Ridgeway’s kitchens were awarded a fantastic 5-star hygiene rating by environmental health inspectors when they visited the school in March. It is the highest possible rating.

The role of the inspectors, working in partnership with the Food Standards Agency, is to inspect food hygiene in the school’s kitchens and check that the catering team are following food hygiene laws.

Food establishments are rated on a scale from 0 to 5, with 5 being the highest score. The rating sticker is a familiar sight in food businesses like restaurants.

Mr Sterry said: I am delighted that our catering team have once again received a 5-star hygiene rating. The effort that they put into preparing tasty, varied menus is matched by the attention that they give to all aspects of food safety and hygiene. We are always listening to students to ensure we put on a good offer that balances what they want and what is nutritionally appropriate.”

Mr Evans, our catering and hospitality manager, said: “Hygiene and safety, structure, cleaning, and confidence in management and control procedures are all checked thoroughly during an inspection. I am thrilled to say that my hardworking team were rated with a 5, which is the highest score possible.”
