The LFC Foundation and Everton in the Community collaborated with Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire & Rescue and other emergency services to deliver a fun-filled day in March, attended by some of our year 8 and year 9 girls.
The day was packed with creative and interactive sessions. In the morning the year 8s participated in various football-related activities, while the year 9s took on leadership roles with children from primary schools. In the afternoon the girls had a meet-and-greet session with Liverpool FC legend Natasha Dowie, seizing the opportunity to ask her questions about her life and career.
They also took part in an escape-room workshop with Merseyside Police’s cyber crime unit and learned more about the work of Merseyside Fire & Rescue.
Natasha later posted on social media: “Over 600 kids playing football. Inspiring the next generation. That’s what it’s all about.”
Knowsley’s Road Safety team were also in attendance. The team showcased their BATAK reaction tester to help test people’s response times, as well as discussing road-safety education and the different roles within the Highways team at Knowsley Council.
Miss Green said: “It was great to see our year 9 students demonstrating their leadership skills, helping primary-school children through their football drills. Our year 8 students were also a credit to the school, working well with students from other secondary schools on a variety of activities.”
