Young People Taking a Lead

Well done to four Ridgeway students – Elena (year 7), George (year 8) and Jody and Autumn (year 9) – who represented Ridgeway at an event called Wirral Youth Climate Comeback Environment Day at Wallasey Town Hall in June.

The changing climate – and in particular its impact on our way of life and on the planet’s ecosystems – is going to be one of the most important issues of the coming decades.

This “conference with a difference” was hosted by a Wirral young people’s environmental group, Cool Youth. Their pre-event publicity stated: “The conference is an incredible opportunity for children and young people to build on their environment skills, develop their voice in Wirral and feel empowered to participate in having a voice at local level about things that concern them about Wirral’s environment.”

Mrs Moran said: “Young people are passionate about the natural world and want to do their best to protect it.

“Elena, George, Jody and Autumn were absolutely fantastic, participating in all the activities with bags of enthusiasm.”
