Sixteen key stage three students were involved in an event called She Inspires at Liverpool County FA in June.
As well as taking part in football-related activities, they had the opportunity to meet players from Everton Ladies and Liverpool Ladies.
Students were chosen for their commitment to girls’ football. The event was organised by Merseyside Police and community partners including the LFC Foundation and Everton in the Community (EITC).The aim of the two-month She Inspires project has been to help girls and young women from across Merseyside build their confidence and realise their potential both on and off the pitch.
The morning session involved the students in a two-hour football seminar, rotating around different stations, each one led by a qualified football coach from either EITC or the LFC Foundation. The focus was on developing footballing skills and also improving teamwork and communication.
Megan Finnigan and Missy Bo Kearns, stars from Everton Ladies and Liverpool Ladies respectively, were on hand to offer their encouragement.
The afternoon session was led by Merseyside Police. The students chatted with police officers and representatives of the event organisers about what their jobs involved.
