Forty students went to Belle Vue Sports Village in Manchester in April to watch Manchester Thunder beat fellow high-fliers Severn Stars in a highly entertaining Netball Super League top-of-the-table clash.
Manchester Thunder are four-time Super League winners, most recently in 2022, and are currently top of the league. The students were able to watch a thrilling display of elite-level netball between two high-quality teams.
The first quarter was extremely tight, finishing 14–13 to Manchester Thunder, despite Severn Stars leading right up to the final second. Manchester Thunder pulled away in the second quarter and were leading 32–23 at the halfway mark. They ended the third quarter with an eleven-point lead and eventually won the game 61–46.
The half time entertainment included Cody Urban Dance, a street dance group from Liverpool.
The girls were also able to meet some of the players after the game, including Taylor McKevitt, Ella Bowen and Elmerè van der Berg. They also got autographs from and selfies with members of the Severn Stars team.
