The charitable website Big Give matched the money that Ridgeway students and staff raised for Ronald McDonald Arrowe Park House in the run-up to the end of term, doubling the support that we can offer families with seriously ill children in hospital this Christmas.
We raised money in two ways. First, students paid a small charge to watch staff taking part in a series of ‘bushtucker trials’. Two teams of staff volunteers competed against each other by eating various ‘exotic’ foods in the style of I’m a Celebrity on ITV.
And then on Christmas Jumper Day students made a minimum donation of £1 to come to school for the day in a Christmas jumper – plus optional accessories with a festive theme – rather than their usual jumper and blazer.
We donated the combined total of £526 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities ‘Help keep families together this Christmas’ campaign.
Big Give (a charitable website) then matched – and therefore doubled – the donation as part of their Christmas Challenge 2024 campaign.
