Chester Zoo Science Project

Year 7 students completed a four-day project run by Chester Zoo on climate change, conservation and sustainability with a fantastic visit to the zoo itself on the Charter Day in February.

Chester Zoo’s outreach team came in to school to deliver three workshops to year 7s on consecutive days in the final week of the half-term. The students then followed up these classroom sessions with a visit to the zoo.

Miss Hockenhull said: Teaching young people about climate change and sustainability is incredibly important in the world in which we live, and we are very lucky to have the opportunity to work with Chester Zoo.

“The zoo’s Climate Change and Sustainability project is brilliant at helping students to get to grips with the importance of these issues. Their outreach team always do a fantastic job of using the latest science to equip students with all the tools they need to understand the issues, make impactful changes and feel empowered to take action.

“A visit to Chester Zoo is of course an opportunity to see up close some of the planet’s many incredible species – including species that are threatened by climate change – and to experience the wonders of wildlife and nature.”
