A visit to Liverpool’s museums gave year 8 art enthusiasts an opportunity to deepen their art appreciation.
Miss Rapple accompanied a group of year 8 students to the World Museum in Liverpool this term to explore some of the magnificent collections there. The visit was a fantastic opportunity for these young art enthusiasts to learn more about how people have engaged with art through the ages.
The museum is packed with astonishing exhibits spanning thousands of years. A particular favourite for the students was the Afterlife section of the Ancient Egypt exhibit – “a 5,000-year old journey with hieroglyphs, mummies and secrets to eternal life.”
There was just time after lunch to visit the Walker Art Gallery to look at the various statues and – Miss Rapple’s favourite! – the craft and design section.
Miss Rapple said:
“This visit was all about enabling the students to see examples of art up close, to draw inspiration from the past and to start to engage with art on a deeper level.
“It will really help them to develop their art appreciation and the quality of their own artwork. Liverpool’s museums are brilliant places for people of all ages to view a fabulous variety of exhibits, providing a fantastic cultural experience. The students also really enjoyed the aquarium exhibit and spent a lot of time with the turtles and axolotls. Those guys were super cute!
“I was absolutely delighted with how much the students enjoyed the day.”
