Music

Why study music?

Music develops your performance skills, your musical appreciation and your confidence and self-discipline. The study of music also develops a variety of personal qualities such as creativity, communication and resilience.

Music matters. Not only is it important for our creative and artistic development, it also teaches us self-awareness, how to work as part of a team and self-discipline.

Music in key stage 3

In key stage 3 we work on developing basic music skills. These include performance on a range of instruments such as keyboard, the school samba kit and voice. We listen to and learn how to analyse and evaluate pieces of music across a wide range of styles and traditions such as classical, pop and world music.
