Remote-Learning Provision

In the spring term remote learning begins on Tuesday 5 January.

There is a registration call twice a week at 8.50am via Zoom. Students meet their form tutor before starting their work for the day. The Zoom invite can be found on Class Charts. It is an opportunity for form tutors to check in on students and go through any questions about how to access the online work and where to get help if they are stuck. We also deliver our character education programme in form time.

Each lesson on your child’s daily timetable is uploaded to Class Charts. Lessons are recorded presentations. The teacher narrates the presentation so that students can hear an explanation of the work. The teacher also goes through how they expect students to complete tasks and how to submit completed work back to the teacher via Class Charts.

We assess students regularly using Microsoft Forms, which is software that enables teachers to set quizzes via Class Charts. These quizzes help teachers to monitor how well students are engaging with the work, measure the progress they are making and adapt future lessons accordingly. When they return to school, students will be assessed on what they have learned over the lockdown period. We will use this information to help us with future curriculum planning so that students make good progress.

We also offer weekly subject tutorials for students so that they can ask their subject teachers questions via Zoom. We expect students to come to a Zoom tutorial with their questions prepared so that the teacher can be most effective in helping those students who are struggling.
